Mark Dickman is Professor of Bioanalytical Science and Engineering at the University of Sheffield. He obtained his degree and PhD at the Krebs Institute, University of Sheffield. Following his PhD he joined a biotechnology company, Transgenomic where he worked as a research scientist developing analytical techniques including DNA/RNA Chromatography. He joined the Dept of Chemical and Biological Engineering in 2003.
His research focuses on the development and application analytical techniques to study biological molecules. In particular, bioseparations in conjunction with biological mass spectrometry are used to characterise and analyse nucleic acid therapeutics. They have established a dedicated RNA bioanalytical facility for the characterisation of mRNA CQAs.
He is a Director and co-founder of a University spin out company RNA Forge.
